Frequently Asked Questions:
How often do you recommend I get my windows cleaned?
St Mary’s Window Cleaning Services suggests a minimum of once a year both inside and out to keep your windows looking their best.
Do I have to be home while my windows are being cleaned?
It is not strictly necessary for you to be home for the entire window cleaning. We normally begin with the inside of the windows and once we have completed any inside work you are free to leave while we complete the job.
Can you clean windows in the rain or should I re-schedule?
We are more than able to clean windows in the rain with the same high quality result. However, you may reschedule for a drier day if you prefer.
Can I just have the inside/outside of my windows cleaned?
St Mary’s Window Cleaning Services can clean any combination of inside/outside windows as long as they fall within our minimum charge of $200. We do recommend however that you have both insides and outsides of the windows cleaned for the best result.
Do I need to move window ornaments, furniture, drapes etc. before you arrive?
We appreciate a clear path to windows and ask that you have any valuable or fragile items removed from window sills before we clean the windows. However if you have any heavy furniture, plants etc. we will be more than happy to move them from the window and back when we are finished with your widow cleaning. We are also able to clean around most blinds, curtains and draperies so removal of these is unnecessary.
What forms of payment do you accept?
St Mary’s Window Cleaning Services accepts checks, cash, Visa and MasterCard. Gift Certificates are also available on request.
Do I need to remove my window screens?
No, we will remove any screens and re-install them.
What do you use to clean my windows?
We use a mild window cleaning solution that does not contain any alcohol or ammonia.
What are these white spots on my windows?
They are probably mineral deposits, a.k.a. “hard water spots,” and are most commonly caused by sprinkler overspray or rainwater that has run over mortar, limestone, or precast concrete above windows. Unless purified, water contains trace amounts of calcium, magnesium, iron, and other minerals that will bond to your glass. As it evaporates, it deposits these minerals on the glass. If left untreated, this process will ultimately etch the glass permanently.
What are these white spots in between the panes of my windows?
If you notice small white spots, flakes, fogging, or condensation between the glass panels of your glass, it is most likely caused by the seal being compromised which allows moisture to enter. Unfortunately, replacing the window in part or whole is the only viable solution once this process has begun. Check with your builder or the window manufacturer to discuss warranty options.
Do scrapers or razor blades scratch glass?
